About Chelsie
Okay so I've been putting this off because I never know what to write about myself so here goes!
First I'm Chelsie (in case you didn't figure that out from the "About Chelsie" above) and I'm Mama to 4 awesome kids, the wife to a great husband and it's because of my family that this journey has begun, to lead a healthier life style.
Anyone with kids knows how hard it is to get them to eat well, mine are no exception. My 7 year old is my picky eater, she turns her nose up at everything cooked. Thank gosh she loves her raw veggies and fruit! She has actually been the inspiration that has us finding ways to hide veggies in other foods. I hope to do some posts on this in the future :)
Oh right, this is suppose to be "About Me" see what happens? Okay so I quit smoking and BAM hello food addiction, and hello nice chunky ass! That pretty much sums it up :) Now I'm working my ass off (literally) to get back down to my goal size.
I've found tracking everything I eat to work the best for me. I like to see where I'm consuming too many calories, and be aware of them for the future. I love www.fatsecret.com and the fact that it's totally free is a bonus. There are many great tracking website and apps out there so find one that works for you.
Like Trisha I'm making life changes, I'm not on a diet, I'm not in this to just get skinny, but also to improve my life by making all these healthier changes. I want to teach my children that so much of what is available to us, is bad for us. I want them to be informed, to take the time to learn what they are putting in their bodies, while I do the same.
The blog itself is an added bonus. I love food photography (food porn) and I love to take pictures, this is a great way to share some of the goodies we come up with. It also makes it easy for me to go back and find something to make when I can't think of anything :)
Of course, this would not be if it was just me. Trisha is the talent behind pulling everything together for this blog! She is totally awesome at website/blog stuff! She is also very witty when it comes to writing, so you will notice her posts will be all cool, while mine will be the recipe and a picture. It's just how it is. :)

About Trisha
Hey everyone! I'm Trisha...a "learning" low-cal Gal (haha).
I've spent my entire 26 years eating what I want (I'm in Missouri, so think, good'ol down home cooking!), when I want it (hm...midnight snack anyone?), with the exception of about 6 months or so when I was 20 or 21. I joined WW and lost 26 lbs! Woot! Unfortunately, for me, I stopped going to WW and gained all of the weight back in the course of about 2 years...plus some.
Over the years I've started "diets" and they've last for about 2 months...tops. Some lasted less than 2 weeks...I would lose about 5 lbs and gain it right back immediately.
Over the last year or so, I've just resorted to doing what most women do...avoiding mirrors, cameras, and clothing stores if I can get away with it.
In the last few months, I've decided that this is not how I want to live my life. Being a Photographer, I do not want to be afraid of the camera (being on the other side of the camera that is), and I LOVE shopping, so I do not like avoiding mirrors and want to have FUN shopping for clothes! Not end the day crying because none of them fit correctly or about "my size" never being on clearance. And not only do I want to lose weight, I just want to BE healthier! I want to know that what's going into my body does not have a lot of preservatives, additives, and all of that other junk you can't pronounce. I want to know that what I'm eating will give me more energy, better skin, a longer and happier life.
I want to make a life change, not go on just another "diet".
This will be hard and I'm going to be taking baby steps in doing it, but I want you all to be here with me while I take on new, healthy recipes and snacks and while I start to regularly...(insert doom music here) exercise...
And I want to take an extra second here to Thank my Low Cal Gal Pal, Chelsie. Without her, I would have undoubtedly quit this before I even began.
And here are some photos of me now...at the beginning of my journey. Taken at the end of October 2010 when my sister and I vacationed in Vegas. I had fun, but the pictures of me there...not so fun for me...
